Sportul Studentesc vs. Gaz Metan Medias - Preview

After last round’s loss, Sportul is getting deeper and deeper in the moving sands and it looks like they need a miracle to stay up for another season. They are such a naïve team who managed to lose at Tg Mures, despite being the better team and the hosts not having more than 3 real scoring chances. Now they are 5 points away from salvation and this game against Medias is a must win for them, especially considering that this is a relegation derby. Coach Isaila doesn’t have any important squad problems before this game.

Gazul too a breath of fresh air last round, winning against Pandurii after 5 games without a win. They are still in deep trouble and coach Pustai stressed they need all the 3 points against Sportul today. They are able to create many goal chances but they are also capable of missing them with ease. For today’s game, they will have a depleted defense, with Trtovac and Vukadinovic injures while gk Plesca, defenders Markovic and Frasinescu, plus defensive midfielder Todea being suspended. All are important players and Gazul will have to play with an improvised defense.

Both teams are in big need of points and I expect a do or die game here, with none of them settling for a draw. Sportul is an unpredictable team who can surprise anybody, while Medias is a more experienced one, with players who are able to take profit of Sportul’s naïve play. The missing defensive players from Medias and all the aforesaid facts make me believe we will see some goals here this afternoon.
