LA Galaxy vs. Vancouver Whitecaps - Preview

      LA Galaxy continue to miss defenders Andrew Boyens, Omar Gonzales and Leonardo. Such missings have made them drop considerably down the table, especially compared to last season when they did have a rock solid defence and where able to top the league with ease. Right now their defence looks average, and they have conceded in 8 home games 5 more goals than in 17 home games last season. That pretty much says it all when it comes to LA and defending. They have only managed once this season to escape without conceding a goal, against Portland Timbers, the team with the worst attacking record when it comes to scoring goals on the road in MLS, just 2 in 6 games, and curiously enough they met LA in another game away this season, that time ended 3-1 for Galaxy also at their stadium, but that time the Timbers did manage to score.

 

   At the same time the attacking line of the Galaxy continues to impress, and it\'s no wonder given the quality they possess through players like David Bechkam, Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane, Buddle or Magee.

 

    Vancouver definetly look improved since last season. They have managed to improve their away record, already earning in 6 road games, 3 more points than they managed last season in 17 road trips. They\'ve also scored in 5 of those 6 games, and are coming to LA with much more confidence than they did last season when they lost 3-0 here, while also losing 4-0 in front of their own fans.

 

    Midfielder Le Toux is enjoying time with Vancouver since his move from Philadelphia, while more players are finding the back of the net for their team, compared to last season at least.

 

    With LA more vulnerable in defence, Vancouver more dangerous up-front, and scoring regularly, but at the same time the Galaxy having what it takes to put 3 past their opponents all by themselves, it seems the dropping of the odds on over 2.5 seems justified, and over 2.5 here, in what looks to be a very lively round in the USA today.
