Elfsborg (-2,5 AH) vs. Floriana - Preview

One of the most unbalanced games of this EL preliminary round, will be played in Sweden, between the current leaders from the Swedish league, Elfsborg, and FC Floriana, a Maltese team.

Floriana is the most successful club from Malta but this doesn’t mean anything on the European stage. They are used to get trashed year after year and I doubt it will be any different now. Their form is quite bad, having lost all the games played in the Euro Cup competition: 1-3 against Hibernians Paola,  0-3 against Birkirkara and 1-2 against FC Valletta. As we can see, currently they are bad even for Maltese standards.

Elfsborg, on the other hand, is toping the Swedish League, 5 points ahead of Malmo and with a flawless streak of 6 wins at home. They are in full championship so their fitness shouldn’t be a problem, compared with the one of the semi-professional Maltese players. Elfsborg is coming after an unexpecting 1-5 trashing against Atvidaberg in the league and they have the opportunity to boost their morale tomorrow. Nothing is better than a convincing win at home, which will allow them to treat more lightly the reverse fixture.

The handicap is quite big but for a reason and I expect the hosts to deliver by at least a 3-4 goals margin.
