Persib Bandung -1.25 AH vs. Persisam - Preview

The hosts are the team with the highest motivation in this match looking to climb to the 2nd place of the league table after Sriwijaya failing to win yesterday against Pelita. Still nothing is certain but if an Indonesian team will manage to get a ticket to the AFC Champions League of next season then the second place will give a ticket to AFC Cup and a tough battle is to be expected till the end between Sriwijaya,  Arema and Persib (they have already swapped places dozens of times in the past 40 days).

Persib is really strong at home, in fact they have the best home record in the league and 12 consecutive wins when playing in front of their fans (almost 23,000 per match is the tickets they sell) after the draw in the opening round against league leaders and upcoming champions Persipura. In those matches they usually score many goals (more than 3) due to the charismatic strikers up front, Van Djik, Hilton Morreira and Kenji that are really tough to be guarded by the not so solid defenses of most of the clubs in ISL. The home side comes from 3 straight wins (that match that is shown as a defeat in Jakarta didn’t take place and is rescheduled for August) and in all of them they scored 4 goals each (even in the 4-3 win against Pelita they conceded twice in the last 10 minutes so it wasn’t such a tough match actually) and they will try to do the same against Persisam that is not so much famous about their defense.

The visitors are in a quite decent form as well but they lose most of their power when playing away from their stadium. Both their wins on the road happened quite recently against two teams that are inside the relegation zone, Persidafon and Persiwa (that has severe financial issues, players on strike and hasn’t won a much for many months already losing even against Pekanbaru) that helped them to improve their position in the league table but it is very difficult to go even higher so 7th place seems to be the best for them. Apart from the match against Persela (that was without their leader Gustavo Lopez) the visitors failed to keep a clean sheet in the last 10 out of 11 matches facing teams much weaker of course than their current opponent. Things will be even harder for them since they cannot rely on their top scorer Kone that is injured and didn’t travel to Bandung with the rest of the squad (one of his multiple injuries this season).

With 9 matches left till the end of the season and only 4 of them at home Persib will look to get 12 points out of them since they are not so impressive when playing away having won only 3 times (against struggling Pekanbaru in the last round, against Pelita in a match that took place in Persib’s home stadium and the only worth to mention victory was at Madura against Persepam, not such a strong team either) and I take it for granted  that they will win this match accomplishing the lucky number 13 consecutive victory and most probably a comfortable one if they will continue to score like they did in their previous 3 matches facing a shaky defense like the one the guests have.
